Integrate Your Body With Ashtanga

The Ashtanga method stresses daily vinyasa flow practice using ujjayi breathing, bandhas (locks) and drishti (gazing points).The first or primary series, called Yoga Chikitsa, which means yoga therapy, realigns the spine, detoxifies the body, and builds strength, flexibility and stamina. The series of poses begins with sun salutations (surya namaskara A and surya namaskara B) and moving on to standing poses and seated poses before relaxation.

Prior to beginning the session, I will discuss Ashtanga yoga, which literally means “eight-limbed yoga”. By exploring their applications within our day-to-day life we convert the philosophy into knowledge realized.This week we will look at the first limb,Yamas (transformation). The first Yamas it is perhaps the most famous one: ahimsa, usually translated as “nonviolence.” This refers not only to physical violence, but also to the violence of words or thoughts.
